‘Venetian Coronation is vividly atmospheric and engrossing.’ BBC REVIEW
The year is 1595. Venice is enjoying untold riches at the crossroads of international trade. St Mark’s – the ‘Chapel of Gold’ with its ornate mosaics – is packed with the great and good for the glorious coronation of the Doge, Marino Grimani.
Brass fanfares, organ toccatas and the sublime singing of Andrea Gabrieli’s Mass echo around the bejewelled Basilica. The Gabrieli Consort’s dramatic recreation of this dazzling musical pageant is not to be missed!
‘The rapturous choral polyphony is enthralling.’ THE INDEPENDENT
